Which Breast Surgery is Right for You?

Beyond physical improvements, breast revision surgery often leads to enhanced self-esteem and confidence, enabling individuals to feel more comfortable and satisfied with their appearance.

A breast revision can include an implant exchange, an implant exchange with a lift, or an explant. Sometimes a breast revision is performed to correct complications arising from a previous surgery, like capsular contracture. Other times, breast revision is done to improve the appearance of a breast that has changed over time due to the natural aging process, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight gain or loss. Learn More

At OC Breast Surgery we specialize in breast lifts. All breast lifts are done in an out-patient surgery center under general anesthesia. Our signature procedure, the Super Breast Lift, creates a better breast shape that resists gravity over time and requires no postoperative drains. Learn More

Large breasts can also pose health risks by causing migraine headaches; compress nerve pathways that lead to numbness in the breasts, arms, hands, and fingers; and cause chronic neck and back pain. A breast reduction can correct these symptoms by removing breast tissue, lifting and tightening the skin to create smaller breasts. Learn More

Breast augmentation is a cosmetic surgical procedure that is used to enhance the size and shape of the breasts. It is typically associated with breast enlargement, which is a common request for enhancement; however, addressing asymmetry may also be a primary concern. Learn More

More than 90% of patients who seek an OC Breast Surgery specialist have had one or more surgeries with doctors elsewhere and are unhappy with their results

After 33 years in practice, Dr. Mark Anton founded OC Breast Surgery specialists for patients seeking breast revision, breast reduction, breast lift, breast reconstruction or breast augmentation surgery. Dr. Anton is the medical director of OC Breast Surgery and is one of the country’s leading breast experts.

Before beginning his successful practice in Newport Beach, California, Dr. Anton was chosen to complete a Breast Fellowship that allowed him to train exclusively in breast and breast reconstruction surgery. Dr. Anton credits the success of his breast surgery practice to his mentor, Dr. Carl Hartrampf, known as the father of the modern day breast reconstruction. Together they co-created the Star Flap Nipple Reconstruction, which today is still one of the leading techniques used for nipple reconstruction.

Dr. Anton has performed thousands of breast surgeries during his career and has been awarded top honors by Castle Connelly Top Doctors, Global Top Doctors, and Top Doctors to name a few. His mission in creating OC Breast Surgery specialists is first and foremost to educate patients. With so much information being received through social media and on-line platforms, it can be difficult and dangerous for patients to distinguish a good MD from a good PR campaign.

Let OC Breast Surgery specialists help you navigate your surgical process. It all begins with a consultation. We charge for a $200 consultation fee with one of our specialists, but you will receive valuable information that will help you to make the best decision for your breasts. You get real answers and realistic expectations.

BREAST REVISION SURGERY ORANGE COUNTY

Your Trusted Breast Experts

The dynamics of each breast revision can differ greatly depending on the nature of the previous surgery, the patient’s own tissue, and the difficulty of the correction. Our expert surgeons corrected many Breast Implant cases from other practices and have been able to achieve an outcome that patients did not think possible.

Commonly Treated Concerns:

Ruptured Implant

A forceful impact to the chest may cause an existing breast implant to rupture. This can and will lead to health issues if left untreated, in addition to an unsightly appearance of the breast. Fortunately, OC Breast Surgery specializes in the removal and replacement of ruptured implants.

Capsular Contracture

Once a breast implant is in place, fibrous scar tissue forms around it, creating a tissue capsule. The body forms a protective capsule like this around any object it recognizes as foreign. OC Breast Surgery can correct this with surgery.

Rippling or Wrinkling

Patients with insufficient natural breast tissue to cover the implant, patients whose implants have been placed on top of the muscle, or who have too large an implant placed may experience visible implant rippling or wrinkling through the skin.

Breast Postis (Sagging)

Saggy breasts, or breast ptosis, may occur with age, but some additional factors can also have an effect. Excess weight is one contributing factor for breast ptosis. OC Breast Surgery can correct this with surgery such as our Super Breast Lift.

Breast Asymmetry & Shape Improvement

If your breasts are relatively equal in size but unevenly shaped, a breast lift can help recontour natural tissue and achieve an aesthetically pleasing shape without significantly affecting breast size.

A lot of breast revision patients suffering with capsular contracture, ruptured or leaking implants want to know if insurance will cover the costs of revision surgery. In general, most insurance companies see breast revision surgery as elective. Every insurance carrier is different, so it is worthwhile to speak to yours to better understand your coverage.

Breast Reduction patients seeking insurance coverage need to provide a detailed history of previous physician notes and documentations of the diagnosis. Some breast reductions are covered by insurance. Typically, they are not. It is recommended to call your insurance carrier before scheduling your consultation with an OC Breast Surgery specialist to better understand your coverage.

OC Breast Surgery is an out of network provider. We do not bill insurance. We collect all fees, including surgeon, OR and anesthesia up front. Your insurance carrier may reimburse you for all or a portion of the costs depending on your out of network benefits and what is covered. One of our helpful administrative assistants can provide the necessary codes for you to present to your carrier to process a claim. We do not work directly with any insurance carriers or take any responsibility for submitting a claim.

Some breast implant revisions are covered under the implant company’s warranty. This would apply to patients with capsular contracture, implant ruptures, and leaks. Our OC Breast Surgery team can submit a claim to your implant company to see if you qualify for any benefits. Every implant company offers a different warranty. Some will replace implants for free if the revision surgery occurs within a certain time frame. Others will replace implants for free and offer some assistance with surgeon fees.

To learn more about your warranty benefits, you will first need to schedule a consultation with one of our OC Breast Surgery specialists to exam the nature of the problem. It is helpful if you bring your implant card along with you to your appointment. If you don’t have your card, you can call your previous surgeon and ask for a copy. If your previous surgeon has retired or is no longer in business, we can try to locate your warranty with some specific patient information.

Breast Implant Revision can take approximately 2 to 4 hours, depending on what is involved and the state of the pre-existing implants. This procedure is done under general anesthesia.

FAQ's

EXPLANT SURGERY FAQS

Nationally, the average breast implant removal cost ranges from $5,025 to $10,575. The price can vary significantly based on the surgeon’s experience, surgical facility fees, and whether accompanying procedures such as a capsulectomy, breast lift, or implant replacement take place at the same time.

Although most patients pay out of pocket, explant surgery due to capsular contracture may be covered by some insurance policies.

Reimbursement for part of the surgery may apply if your breast implants are still under warranty. All FDA-approved breast implants in the United States come with a warranty. Most warranties are limited to a term of 10 years or less. Each manufacturer has its own stipulations. Warranty coverage for breast implant leakage in the first ten years is the most common item covered. Capsular contracture and other conditions occurring within that timeframe may or may not be covered.

Some patients choose to undergo an explant surgery to remove breast implants without replacement. However, this is not your only option. You can choose to have implant removal and a breast lift to make your breasts smaller and perkier. You can also have your implants removed, and new implants added with what is known as an implant exchange. Implant replacement and lifting is also possible with breast augmentation mastopexy. Dr. Anton is highly skilled in all forms of cosmetic breast surgery and is considered an authority in this field. He will help you make sense of the different options at your consultation.

You can return to light job duties in approximately one week. Physically demanding careers that require heavy lifting, for example, can resume work in approximately four to six weeks.

You cannot drive home from the hospital as your procedure involves general anesthesia. Someone must be present to drive you home. Driving is possible after 24 hours or whenever you feel safe behind the wheel after that. If you are prescribed pain medications, please check the label for warnings about driving and grogginess and follow the advisories as indicated.

Breast Surgery Recovery Tips

Follow Post-Operative Care Instructions

  • No activities that raise blood pressure or heart rate for two and a half weeks following surgery. This includes bending, lifting, straining, walking the dog, sex, and all other physical or emotional stressors.

  • Take antibiotics as instructed.

  • Take pain meds as needed. You do not want to wait until you are in pain to administer pain medications. This causes stress on the body and can result in increased heart rate and blood pressure.

  • No exercise until cleared by the surgeon. Typically, 3-4 weeks. When you return to exercise start off slowly and build back up to your normal routine.

  • Perform the breast exercises from the Breast Implant Moving Guide video every couple of hours until instructed to stop. This applies only to implant patients.

  • Hydrate and follow a whole foods diet limiting processed foods.

  • Avoid alcohol

The healing process is different for every patient. After surgery most patients go home to recover. Other patients choose to go to an after care facility for the first night.
Following the post-op instructions is critical for a smooth recovery.
